Icon’s Head of Payments to present at T-Systems Symposium in Hungary

8 November 2017

Tom Hay, Icon Solutions’ Head of Payments, will be speaking on instant payments at the T-Systems Symposium on 28th November 2017 in Budapest.

This prestigious event takes place annually and hosts over 2,000 delegates from the financial and technology industries within Hungary. This year the event will focus on four key themes:

• Instant payments and GDPR
• Natural Language processing: Artificial Intelligence
• On-line customer identification, video banking, virtual customer service solutions
• Big data solutions

In line with Hungary’s move to instant payments in July 2019, Tom will be presenting ‘Navigating the transition to Instant Payments’ where he will share his thoughts on the common challenges faced when transitioning to instant payments, and possible solutions for addressing them in the Hungarian market.

Tom will highlight how payment systems will need to be equipped to manage the high volumes and straight-through processing requirements of instant payments. With under two years to prepare for this, how can banks ensure the delivery timescales are met whilst controlling costs and managing risks?

Tom’s presentation will cover:

  • The evolution of instant payments
  • How the Hungarian instant payments timeline compares to others in Europe
  • The instant payments use cases which will support business cases in Hungary

Tom will also participate in a panel session with Becky Clements, Head of Industry Engagement at Metro Bank. This session will focus on the UK experience of Faster Payments and the invaluable lessons learnt for future adopters of instant payments.

If you are interested in reading more about the challenges faced and possible solutions for addressing them in the Hungarian market, Icon have written a whitepaper (In Hungarian) available to download here.
