Icon Solutions donates £40k to WeSeeHope in response to Covid-19

8 July 2020

Icon Solutions, a leading global payments expert and provider of payments technology, today announced a donation of £40k to WeSeeHope – a charity committed to creating community-led change for vulnerable children in Southern and Eastern Africa. From improving access to pre-school education and setting up child protection structures, to training young people in vocational and business skills, WeSeeHope focuses on delivering tangible and sustainable impact.

WeSeeHope is one of the charities Icon supports through their Icon Foundation fund, a non-profit entity entirely funded by Icon and used for donations to good causes. This specific donation was made in response to WeSeeHope’s urgent appeal for support in addressing the implications of Covid-19. Sadly, since the middle of March, the pandemic has had a drastic effect on their immediate funding and to their longer-term income predictions, and they are in desperate need of support.

Ben Hallifax, Icon Solutions’ Operations Director, said “Icon is built on a commitment to giving back and to helping people to live better lives. Covid-19 has had devastating consequences, with the hardest hit being on low-income and vulnerable households. We have seen the support WeSeeHope offer to their communities first hand and understand just how important it is that WeSeeHope continues as an organisation. I am glad that we can make a contribution at this critical time.”

Mark Glen, WeSeeHope’s CEO, said: “We are so grateful for Icon’s incredibly generous donation. The COVID-19 pandemic is exacerbating poverty, insecurity and vulnerability, and we are determined to be in the strongest position to help the children, families and communities we work with through this. The Icon team has been a real source of support at such a critical time for WeSeeHope and their commitment means the world. Thank you.”
