Head of Payments to speak at Payments Conference in Norway

Tom Hay, our Head of Payments, was recently invited to speak at the prestigious Payments Conference in Trondheim, Norway.

Tom’s presentation “PSD2 – will bureaucracy bury the banks?” looks at one of the key initatives which impacts payments over the new few years.

PSD2 will radically change the payments landscape by giving third parties the right to initiate payments from accounts held by any bank in Europe.

Tom’s presentation reviews the history of these overlay services and the economic drivers, and looks at the rights and obligations that PSD2 will give to them and to banks. It reviews the impacts of regulation on the parties involved, and ways that individual banks and the industry as a whole might respond. Finally it answers the question: will PSD2 relegate banks to mere utility providers of payment services?
