Simon Wilson interviewed by PaymentsCompliance

London, 29th March – Icon’s Simon Wilson, Director, Global Payment Solutions, was interviewed yesterday by PaymentsCompliance on the ECB’s TIPS service. With only a handful of banks currently using TIPS which launched on 30th November 2018.

Simon shares his views on the reasons for the slow uptake and what the benefits of joining TIPS could be.

Simon said, “Once TIPS came into the market late it gave people a reason to pause and think ‘well do I join TIPS or do I join RT1′? TIPS’ greatest potential could lie in its ability to act as a bridge for interoperability for the various domestic instant payments systems in the EU. That will be enhanced when it adds the ability to process payments in other currencies.”
