This Tier 1 Bank’s payments processing systems were based on aging technologies upon which the Bank had evolved complex, broadly undocumented, solutions - often fast-tracked to satisfy mergers and regulation.

The Straight Through Payments project was initiated to refresh the technology, provide robust documentation and to provided a flexible foundation for ongoing change.

From vendor selection through to application support, Icon Solutions have provided a team of key Platform SMEs to the Bank for a number of years. These resources combine business / payments scheme understanding, technology expertise and payments knowledge to provide architectural oversight and assurance on this critical UK payments platform. 

The platform provided the Bank with the foundation for UK Faster Payments and HBOS integration as well as houses fundamental business level applications, such as UK FPS, BACS, SEPA and International Payments. Throughout these volatile changes our team have ensured a high quality and stable STP platform. Handling 96 million FPS messages per month at a peak of 10 million per day (the platform handles 40% UK FPS transactions).

The Icon team have played a key role in helping upskill Bank resources and leading off-shore partners to enable a “right-shoring” model that leaves the bank better equipped with SME resources.
