Icon Solutions was born out of two main principles: to deliver first-class IT to our customers and to build a company people enjoy working for.
Founded in 2009, Icon delivers payment solutions to leading financial institutions across the globe – institutions such as Citi, NatWest and BNP Paribas.
Icon has been built on a set of five fundamental values that are embodied in everything we do: Fight Complexity, Celebrate Honesty, Outdo Yourself, Take Ownership and Enjoy IT. This ethos is the reason why we have created long-lasting relationships with our customers, who embrace Icon’s contribution as a trusted advisor. We deliver pragmatic solutions that allow our clients to be ahead of the curve now and in the future.
Our values are of course meaningless without having people that live and breathe them. Whether they are an IPF engineer, a solution architect or payments analyst, we only hire the best people. That’s because it takes the best to deliver simplicity (and simple is never easy when working in an inherently complex environment such as payments). Everyone in the Icon team brings a wealth of expertise from the industry and a passion for keeping pace with a market that is constantly evolving.
Two of our major customers, Citi and NatWest, have also demonstrated their confidence in us by becoming strategic investors in Icon Solutions.
“The low code aspect of the framework (Icon’s IPF) empowers and enables organisations to control its delivery and feature richness while the simple extensibility of the capability allows software engineers to focus on high value integrations and innovation.”
Ian Povey, CIO Payments Technology, NatWest
Principles to live by
Carbon neutrality is achieved by calculating a carbon footprint and reducing it to zero through a combination of in-house efficiency measures, renewable energy and external emissions reductions projects. CarbonNeutral certification means that a company has followed The CarbonNeutral Protocol to make a clear, credible, transparent claim of their carbon neutral action.
We have strong ties to our roots in Wimbledon and are proud to continue to support many of our local programmes and initiatives, such as the Polka Theatre, Merton's Community Fridge, The Wimbledon Guild, Old Wimbledonians Rugby Club and the Wimbledon Station Shoebox Appeal, all of which do wonderful work for the community.
The Polka Theatre, whose work nurtures children's creativity and brings communities together through theatre and play, is one that Icon are dedicated to supporting and have done for many years by contributing to their Freefalling programme, regularly hiring their events space and helping to fund a major refurb in 2020.
WeSeeHope transforms the lives and futures of children in some of Africa's toughest environments, from rehabilitating isolated children back into their communities, to educating young people and training them in vocational and business skills. During the pandemic we held two virtual events with Icon staff logging over 20,000km of running, walking, cycling and swimming, raising over £5,000 in the last event, and more recently some of the people at Icon took part in some Ultra Challenges across the UK for the charity. Icon also supports the Hope Classic Rally, one of the UK's most unique classic car experiences and fundraising initiatives, which also raises funds for WeSeeHope.
Each year at Icon we support community charities voted in by staff to honour Hiral Patel, a beloved member of the Icon family who we lost too soon. These are just some of the charities we are proud to have supported in honour of Hiral:
The Girl Guides - Hiral was a Girl guide leader for many years so we are doing what we can to help her regional Girl Guides, Brownies and Rainbows. Including taking part in STEM days.
The Girls Network - A mentoring programme for young women, Icon now has 3 women who have become mentors for the programme.
EcoActive - An environmental charity, planting community gardens and educating on sustainable living.
West London Welcome - A community centre run for and with refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and other locals living in West London.
Wallington Animal Rescue - A rescue home striving to reduce the population of homeless or unwanted animals through providing support and advice for animal welfare and promoting spay/neutering awareness programmes within their local community.
We’re proud to be part of the number one payroll giving scheme in the UK. “CAF Give As You Earn” helps over 3,000 companies and 400,000 staff to give nearly £80m to charity each year. We’re delighted to have been awarded the Silver Payroll Giving Quality Mark for our organisation’s commitment to payroll giving and corporate social responsibility.
