Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a snr dev lead to join a highly agile and collaborative development team, consisting of both junior and experience software developers, using a cutting-edge tech stack. This role will involve to working onsite with clients to help them achieve their business aims.


The Senior Development Lead will be a seasoned engineer to which more junior members of a development team can reach out to. The role will also involve hands-on development, working to resolve high impact, challenging engineering problems while continuously raising quality standards. The technology stack will include Java, Spring and Camel.


Successful candidates will have the right attitude to work closely with other members of the development team and other teams. They will share their knowledge regarding software engineering best practices. They will also have experience working effectively within highly collaborative agile development teams. They should be able to demonstrate a passion for engineering and software development. We are looking for self-starters, who can readily take ownership and continually strive to innovate.


Principal responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a key role in development, following TDD and BDD Processes
  • Writing high quality code within established development standards and patterns
  • Contributing to design decisions and technical discussions as part of a development team

Skills and experience will include:

  • Java 8+ skills (Functional programming, Optional, CompletableFuture, etc.)
  • Containers and container orchestration i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher
  • Spring basics (IoC, context, JMS)
  • Building for high availability/resilient distributed systems
  • Knowledge of automation, and Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment processes
  • Agile delivery experience
  • In addition to the above, the following background experience would be highly beneficial:
  • Consultancy/ customer facing experiences within a software vendor or enterprise scale services environment
  • Experience with Akka (or equivalent frameworks) & Spring technologies
  • Automation environment provisioning using Ansible
  • Previous experience with real-time messaging systems
  • DevOps experience
  • Knowledge of document-based data stories e.g. MongoDB
  • Finance Services/ Banking always a plus

  • Travel profile: Candidates should be willing to work at client site (predominantly in Central London) in the interest of meeting with customers and collaborating with colleagues

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer from a product engineering background , to assist in the successful delivery of a market-leading solution for real-time payment processing framework.

The Software Engineer is responsible for hands-on development of software applications, working at pace adhering to Kanban values to resolve high impact, challenging, engineering problems while continuously raising quality standards. Using Java, AKKA and Spring, the Software Engineers will contribute to all aspects of the architecture and design for this innovative solution.

Successful candidates will have proven experience working effectively within highly collaborative agile development teams. They should be able to demonstrate a passion for engineering effective solutions to complex challenges. We are looking for self-starters, who can readily take ownership and continually strive to innovate.


Key responsibilities:

  • Contributing to design decisions and technical discussions as part of the engineering team

Required skills and experience:

  • Excellent JAVA 8+ skills (5+ years’ experience working with Java)
  • Building for high availability/resilient distributed systems
  • Experience in automation using Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment processes
  • Comfortable working across the full stack however predominantly back end
  • Agile delivery experience e.g. working in Kanban/Scrum delivery environments

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience with Akka (or equivalent frameworks) & Spring technologies
  • Automation environment provisioning using Ansible
  • Previous experience with real-time messaging systems
  • DevOps experience gained within highly transactional software environments
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Unix sys admin and scripting
  • Knowledge of document-based data stories e.g. MongoDB

  • Salary Information: Competitive Base + 20% bonus + 10% pension + significant benefits
  • Travel Profile: predominately Wimbledon based, however, potential European travel
