About Icon Solutions:

Icon Solutions is an international award-winning payment and specialist technology provider serving global financial institutions. From IT strategy, architecture and design to software development, Icon enables clients to rapidly capitalise on the latest technology. The critical value Icon offers its clients, is the combination of deep subject matter expertise in instant payments, a proven track record in delivering bank critical systems, and a FinTech approach to the use of technology.

About IPF:

IPF provides institutions with faster and more cost-effective access to instant payments through an advanced and highly flexible software framework seamlessly integrated with core and back-office banking applications. IPF is for payment providers who, faced with an open, data driven, real-time world, want to transform their IT infrastructure to support the agile business model needed to compete in the fast-moving payments market. IPF is a modular payments platform that combines open source technology with light-weight integration, and unlike traditional monolithic payment ‘hubs’ it empowers payment providers to deploy new products and value-added services quickly, cost-effectively and incrementally.

About the role:

Focused, to date, on the upper tiers of the market, IPF has been sold to clients in the UK, Continental Europe and the US.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Business Development Director to join a fast growing (mature) Fintech with a solid foundation on which it plans to grow a significant global payments business. The role will initially involve generating new business from within the top 50 US Banks and Credit Union’s plus multi-client processors. You will be working alongside a small, growing, local team with significant back-up from HQ in London with the longer-term opportunity to develop the US business into a significant revenue stream for Icon.

Main responsibilities:

  • Educating prospects on the capabilities of Icon Solutions including thought leadership, architectural services, programme management / mobilisation, payments services and delivery.
  • Establishing and developing a pipeline of payments transformation opportunities across Tier 1 and Tier 2 financial institutions.
  • Ensuring that Icon are invited to participate in formal procurement process such as RFIs, RFPs, ITTs where appropriate with core clients.
  • Maintaining regular contact with key client stakeholders (CIO, CTO, Heads of, and other Senior Management)
  • Engaging with clients at an early stage to qualify the opportunity and develop a strong understanding of the bid process and competitive landscape.
  • Working opportunities for payments solutions through to successful contract closure exceeding annual sales targets
  • Working with appropriate partners and influencers as a route to market and to assist in further establishing the IPF Solution in the US market
  • Working with and recruiting more delivery partners to help scale-up the business from an implementation perspective where Icon will typically only play a 10%-25% role in projects

Skills/Experience:

  • Sales into Banks and FI’s (10yrs+)
  • Payments knowledge, ideally across both wholesale, retail and cards with close awareness of changing needs of banks, especially in Real-time Payments and Open Banking
  • Good network of contacts across US Banks and the payments space
  • Good grasp of IT in payments
  • Start-up / Fintech cultural experience
  • Ability to build / leverage long term relationships across target client base and the wider payments industry
  • Engage and work closely with implementation partners to maximise traction in accounts
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships and work as part of a close team, whilst geographically being remote from the UK head office (Note there are other US employees, one focused on driving business in the Canadian market)
  • Drive and capability to lead sales engagements and be accountable for delivering against targets
  • Confidence, poise and credibility necessary to effectively engage with senior stakeholders in the establishment of commercial partnerships rather than vendor relationships.
  • Ability to present well, manage & direct through the sales procurement process including RFP’s
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage a negotiation of complex solution (services and/or product) deals.
  • Appreciation for modern methods affecting the way in which enterprise IT engagements are delivered, such as, agile delivery methods, the emergence open-source ‘fin-tech’ platforms, Dev/Ops and other delivery models.

Additional Information:

  • Job Location: various US
  • Salary: Competitive Base & OTE
  • Applicants must have the right to live and work in the United States and will be required to partake in pre-employment background checking
