Icon sends refurbished laptops to African charity

20 April 2016

amani-w700In 2015, Icon’s Director of Operations and Director of Services (Ben Hallifax and Darren Capehorn) raised over £7,000 for Tanzania-based Amani Children’s Home by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.  As well as raising funds, the Directors wanted to do more to help the lives of these children. Upon hearing that a single computer can impact 24 children’s lives in Africa, they decided to refurbish some of Icon’s older laptops and send them to the Amani Children’s Home.

“Icon is not just about the balance sheet, we look at how we can make a difference in everything we do. The fact that our computers will make a difference to children’s lives by offering them access to on-line learning and maybe a computer game or two, supports Icon’s ethics.  As an IT Consultancy, we have the ability to refurbish the computers ourselves and it makes sense to combine some of our capabilities in supporting charities.”

Ben Hallifax – Operations Director
